The Torrance-South Bay YMCA is grateful to Centinela Feed and Pet Supplies for your support of YMCA programs and services since 2014.

This support has included Chris Nakagawa volunteering on the YMCA Board of Managers, Corporate Sponsorship of our Kids to Camps Golf Tournament, weekly pet food donations, and visits by company officials and employees to our summer sleep away camps.

Youth Program

Centinela Feed has been a Title Sponsor for the YMCA Send Kids to Camps golf tournament for the past several years. All proceeds from this tournament go into our endowment fund and are directed by the golf committee and board of managers to provide financial assistance to children attending sleep away camps, day camps, and Youth in Government programs.

Senior Program / Pet Food Donations

Shortly after Mr. Nakagawa joined the YMCA board of managers, one of the home delivery drivers who provides meal delivery to homebound seniors in the city of Carson reported that a number of her clients were giving some or all of their hot meals to their pets because they could not afford pet food.

This led to a wonderful partnership where Centinela Feed and Pet Supplies donates pet food to be delivered to senior home delivery clients for their pets.

The YMCA provides meals to seniors in three locations – Redondo, Torrance, and Carson. In addition to congregate meals, the YMCA home delivers meals to seniors in the city of Carson. When one of our drivers raised a concern that some of her home delivery clients were feeding their meals to their pets, Centinela Feed stepped up and has since been donating pet food that we deliver every Friday to home delivery clients with pets. Thanks to everyone at Centinela Feed and Pet Supplies for your wonderful partnership and support over the last 7 years. We look forward to continuing to work together in providing these essential programs and services to youth and seniors in our community.

Kids to Camps Golf Tournament

Our Kids to Camps Golf Tournament is an annual event that raises funds for financial assistance to children and families who cannot afford the full fee to attend youth programs. Since Centinela’s involvement, the Golf Tournament has raised nearly $1M to support children attending summer sleep away camp, day camp, youth in government programs, and a new youth institute program.

All of these youth programs teach and encourage team building, leadership development, and service.

YMCA Camp:

Camp is a perfect partner to family, school and community youth activities in helping kids learn independence, decision-making, social and emotional skills, character building and values – all in an atmosphere of creativity and enrichment with positive adult role models. CAMP IS FUN!! Both camps have traditional Y camp set in the San Bernardino Mountains near Jenks Lake. Campers enjoy swimming, crafts, hiking, zip lining, campfire, meeting new friends, and so much more.
